Coffee is no longer a commodity. It defines a community. It tells their story. Local. Global. Everywhere in-between.

Great Lakes Coffee was founded in Detroit, but sourced from all over the world. The coffee is so fresh that it is not roasted until it is ordered for the shop. Then it's shipped to us within 24 hours to ensure freshness. Prying it from the UPS driver's hands is tough, because he is tortured with the smell of fresh beans in their truck. When we open the box, the yummy aroma fills The Lemon Tree and lingers until every last bag is sold. Once you try it, you'll never drink any other brand.

 

FLAVORS:

MOTOR CITY

A blend of coffees as smooth and sweet as the soulful music the city has and continues to produce. This coffee was designed for all day drinking and dining. 

Roast | Medium
Tasting Notes | Mellow, almond, and cherry.

 

FRENCH ROAST

3,000 Small farmers make up this large, yet quality-driven coop. Organic fertilizers and rigorous crop management is employed in yielding some of the sweetest coffees we've tasted. Roasted tastefully to a dark French roast.

CORKTOWN

Down and dirty like Detroit's oldest neighborhood. Earthy natural process coffees provide a base upon which the washed Ethiopia yirgacheffe can express itself. This coffee, like the denizens of Corktown, has personality.

Roast | Medium/Light
Tasting Notes | Berry, almond and lemon.

 

MACKINAC ISLAND

Designed as a fine dining coffee with flavors from the four corners of the world, this blend is supremely contemplative whether thinking of the brilliant blue of Michigan's lakes in the summer or the complex colors of an up north Autumn.

Tasting Notes | Blueberry, plum, and citrus.

 

HYDRO ESPRESSO WHOLE BEAN

The simple pure blend of washed Colombia and natural Ethiopia is roasted light providing the extra caffeine which will put your mind in a linear trajectory like the hydroplane boats on the Detroit river.

Tasting Notes | Floral, toffee, and grapefruit.

 

ORGANIC HOUSE DECAF

This organic-certified coffee was selected for Mountain Water Process decaffeination based on its cup quality, the representation of the region in its nutty, tangy, fruity, and creamy-bodied flavor profile. Organic coffees are somewhat difficult to source in certain regions of Colombia, but we are glad to have partners in Tolima who farm using organic practices and have achieved their certification.

BRAZIL WHOLE BEAN

A diverse country producing one-third of the world’s coffee, Brazil is known for coffees that are full-bodied, low in acidity, and often nutty or chocolatey.

SPRING TRAINING WHOLE BEAN

Spring is a season of change and new flavors. The washed coffee in this blend create cleaner, brighter flavors heralding the rebirth of nature from a long winter sleep, and preparation for the upcoming season.
